Day 2: Barcelona – Girona & Figueres (Dalí Museum) – Barcelona
After the breakfast served at the hotel, guests who wish may join an optional tour titled Pearls of Grand Northern Catalonia (Girona & Figueras & Dali Museum) for an additional fee. (70 Euro) Our first stop on this tour is Girona. Located in northeastern Catalonia, approximately 100 kilometers north of Barcelona, Girona is a historic city renowned for its medieval narrow streets, historical buildings, museums, churches, and city walls. During our tour here, we will visit the Lion Statue, Cathedral Square, and the famous Jewish Quarter (El Call). Afterward, we head toward the town of Figueres. Figueres, located northeast of Girona, is known as the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. The city is closely associated with the life and works of the famous Spanish painter Salvador Dalí. The most important tourist attraction in Figueres is the Salvador Dalí Museum. Dalí established this museum to leave something behind in his birthplace and to exhibit his works. Today, it houses the largest collection of Dalí’s works, and since he designed every part of it, it is considered his greatest architectural masterpiece. The museum contains over 4,000 works created by Dalí using various techniques. After the tour, we return to Barcelona. Guests who wish may also join an optional tour titled Gaudi's Grand Masterpiece (Park Guell) & Gothic Quarter for an additional fee. (50 Euro) Our first stop on this tour is Park Guell. One of Antoni Gaudí's magnificent works, Park Guell is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as the fairytale park, it creates a magical atmosphere with its colorful staircases and whimsical pavilions. After admiring Gaudí's magnificent work, our second stop is the Gothic Quarter. In the Gothic Quarter, you can feel the enchanting atmosphere of the Middle Ages through its narrow, labyrinthine medieval streets, Gothic churches, romantic squares, and Roman walls, while marveling at its historic fabric. Among the most important structures in the quarter are the Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça Reial (Royal Square), Plaça del Rei (King's Square), and La Rambla. (80 Euro) (There is a daily visitor limit at the Alhambra Palace, and our visit to the palace may be conducted excluding the harem depending on availability. We kindly request that you inform your travel agent about your participation status in this tour during reservation.) One of Granada's greatest treasures, the Alhambra Palace, is one of the most striking and impressive examples of Andalusian Islamic architecture. As one of the most visited historical sites in Spain, the Alhambra is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has gained worldwide fame. This famous monument was begun in the 13th century as a defensive fortress and palace on a plateau atop the Sabika hill overlooking Granada, with construction continuing until the 15th century. Due to the red earth used in its construction, it took on a reddish color and was named Alhambra, meaning "Red". Guests who wish may also join our Extra Grand Neighborhoods (Albaicin and Sacromonte Gypsy Quarter) tour after our tour. (60 Euro) Albaicin is a historic and enchanting neighborhood of Granada. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area is famous for its narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and scenic hills. It bears traces of Andalusian Islamic culture and architecture and reflects Granada's history. After the tour here, we will watch the Gypsy show and their lifestyle while enjoying a drink in fully hand-carved caves. After our tour, return to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Granada – Seville
After the morning breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Seville. Upon arrival, our city tour begins. Seville is a city famous for its historical and cultural richness, located in the Andalusia region of Spain. During our city tour along the banks of the Guadalquivir River, we will first visit Maria Luisa Park and Plaza America, which include the Plaza de Espana. We will also see the Seville Cathedral (exterior view), the third largest cathedral in the world, where Christopher Columbus's tomb is located; right next to the cathedral stands the Giralda Minaret, the last remaining part of the mosque upon which the cathedral was built, commemorating the Umayyad Caliphate of Andalusia; and the Alcazar (exterior view), the former palace of the Castilian kings. Later, passing through the Archives of the Indies, where records of all sea voyages to the Americas up to the 19th century are kept, we will reach the narrow old streets of the Santa Cruz neighborhood, known as "old" Seville. At the end of our walk, after viewing the Torre del Oro (Golden Tower)—which served as the main campus of the University of Seville, formerly a tobacco factory and now a maritime museum—we will transfer back to our hotel. Situated near the coast of Costa del Sol, Mijas stands out with both its sea views and its historic character. Mijas Pueblo, the historic part of the town, offers a postcard-like image with its narrow streets typical of Andalusian architecture, balconies decorated with flowers, and whitewashed houses. Although the town's origins date back to Ancient Rome and even the Phoenicians, its current character was largely shaped during the Muslim period of Andalusia. One of the most striking points of Mijas is the small bullfighting arena built on the town's hill and the ruins of Mijas Castle. After our tour, our final stop will be Malaga. On our Malaga tour, we will visit places such as Paseo de Parque (Park Avenue), Plaza de la Merced, the Jewish Quarter, Constitution Square, Larios Avenue, Puerto Marina (Harbor), La Alcazaba, and Gibralfaro Castle—the city where the famous painter Pablo Picasso was born.
