Cruise prices usually cover accommodation, main restaurants and many common areas, but not every service is included. To calculate your total budget correctly, set aside possible extra costs in advance.
BEVERAGES
Water, tea or certain drinks may be included in the package; alcoholic beverages, coffee varieties and bottled products may be charged separately. Check whether a beverage package is mandatory per person, per day, or for the entire cabin.
TIPS AND SERVICE CHARGES
Some companies automatically add a daily service fee to the bill. Ask before booking whether it is included in the package price and whether it applies to children.
INTERNET
Mobile connectivity at sea can be expensive. The ship's internet packages vary by duration and number of devices. Using a local connection at port may be more economical.
SHORE EXCURSIONS
Tours organized by the cruise company offer a practical and safe return plan; however, they can be more expensive than independent sightseeing. Compare the port's distance from the city center and the transportation options.
SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS AND ACTIVITIES
The main restaurant and buffet are included in most programs. Specialty restaurants, spa, beauty services, some game areas, photos and premium events may be extra.
PORT AND TRANSPORTATION
Flights to the main port, transfers, hotels, parking and some port services may add to the total cost. Calculate visas, travel insurance and baggage fees separately as well.
Read the included and excluded services in your booking document line by line. Checking onboard expenses daily through the app or cabin account prevents surprises on the last day. To clarify your budget, compare the included services and extra fees in the cruise tour program you choose in advance.
